Other assignments have taken him and his family to Japan, Hong Kong, Egypt, Tunisia, India, Germany and the U.K.. Garrison's efforts to understand and join God's global mission have led him to study a dozen languages and travel through more than 100 countries.
Garrison has a PhD from the University of Chicago and a Masters degree from Golden Gate Seminary, with undergraduate study at Ouachita Baptist University and Seinan Gakuin University in Japan. He has lectured at several schools including Fuller Theological Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Seminary, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Columbia Biblical Seminary. He is the author and/or editor of several books including The Nonresidential Missionary (MARC, 1990), Something New Under the Sun (IMB, 1998), and Church Planting Movements (WIGTake, 2004), which has been translated into twenty languages.
More recently, Dr. Garrison has edited internationally acclaimed resources that have been translated into multiple languages, including Kevin Greeson's The Camel, How Muslims Are Coming to Faith in Christ! (WIGTake, 2007), Steve Smith's T4T: A Discipleship Re-Revolution (WIGTake, 2011), and Mike Shipman's Any-3: Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime (WIGTake, 2012).
Dr. Garrison's most recent book, A Wind in the House of Islam, surveys 45 Muslim movements to Christ – each with more than a thousand baptized converts – that are currently underway. Garrison asked more than a thousand Muslim-background believers in these movements, "What did God use to bring you to faith in Jesus Christ?" A Wind in the House of Islam
God is doing something unprecedented in the Muslim world today. Over the past 14 centuries, Islam and Christianity have engaged in a global contest with eternal implications. During the first 12 centuries, tens of millions of Christians were assimilated into the House of Islam, that broad expanse of territory encompassing more than 1.6 billion Islamic adherents. During those same centuries, there were only three, yes three, movements of at least a thousand Muslim conversions to the Christian faith. That pattern began to change at the end of the 19th century when two new movements of Muslims appeared: one in Indonesia and the other in Ethiopia. Then, in the latter third of the twentieth century, a further 11 movements of Muslims to Christ took place. Now, in just the first 13 years of the twenty-first century, we have seen an additional 69 movements of Muslims to faith in Jesus Christ. Though still tiny when compared to a religion that adds nearly 30 million to its number every year, this unprecedented awakening in the Muslim world is significant.
We are living in the midst of the greatest turning of Muslims to Christ in history.

Ying Kai and T4T Training Coming Your Way!
Anyone familiar with T4T (Training for Trainers) knows the name of Ying Kai. Ying Kai is the visionary Chinese-American pastor, missionary and church planter whom God used to launch one of the most dynamic church planting movements in the world today.
Ying and his wife Grace currently serve with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Steve Smith, author of T4T: A Discipleship Re-Revolution, captured Ying and Grace Kai's amazing story and the movement built on Training For Trainers (T4T) that saw more than two million baptisms and tens of thousands of new house churches planted in Asia.
Today, T4T is being adapted in a variety of countries and cultures around the world, where it is being used to reach millions of souls. Ying and Grace have conducted training of trainers around the world, and seen continual growth and multi-generational fruit.
RAD: Rapidly Advancing Disciples
Looking for a practical field-tested implementation of the principles found in Steve Smith and Ying Kai's book, T4T: A Discipleship Re-Revolution? Since 2006, RAD (Rapidly Advancing Disciples) has been used by church planters from South Asia to South Africa to multiply healthy churches and disciples by going both deep and wide.
Drawing from Nathan and Kari Shank's, "The Four Fields" and Dr. Thom Wolf's "Universal Disciple", RAD offers biblical methods for all five parts of a church-planting plan in a way that allows each of the five parts to complement and build on the others. This recently updated version of RAD is based on input from both national and foreign church planters who have been successfully using it for many years.
Churchplantingmovements.com is pleased to offer RAD for your use at no cost. We are all in debt to the author of RAD for sharing this resource freely to expand the Kingdom of God and to make the knowledge of God's glory known across the entire earth.
